About the Hedda Bolgar Fund for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis
Dr. Hedda Bolgar was a faculty member of the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis. Prior to her death in 2013 at the age of 103, Dr. Bolgar was a pioneering psychologist and psychoanalyst, a social activist, a beloved teacher, and a dedicated clinician. Dr. Bolgar continued to see patients until shortly before her death. She graduated from the University of Vienna in 1934. When the Nazis annexed Austria in 1938, Dr. Bolgar came to the United States, settling first in Chicago and later moving to Los Angeles.
The Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis was one of the very few institutes to which Dr. Bolgar bequeathed her legacy. We are honoring her life and spirit by dedicating her gift to establish the Hedda Bolgar Fund for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. The Hedda Bolgar Fund will build on her legacy by encouraging innovative ways to advance psychoanalytic education, and supporting initiatives that promote fresh and creative ways to extend psychoanalytic thought and services.
Dr. Bolgar was a tireless advocate for psychoanalysis. We invite you to contribute to the Hedda Bulgar Fund. Together, we will work to advance psychoanalysis, ensure its vitality, and develop new ways for psychoanalysis to fulfill its promise.
